Proven dealmaker. Dedicated friend and brother. Lifelong entrepreneur. David Mayfair plays many roles, but one thing remains constant in every endeavor: his unique perspective on the world around him.
David doesn’t just see things for how they are — he imagines what they can become. That same perspective is what became The Mayfair Method.
That drive to build and create is part of his family lineage. In the 1850s, David’s ancestors emigrated from London and Dublin, settling in Newport Beach as California entered a period of rapid expansion.
That legacy of leadership carried into modern enterprise: an uncle who helped grow telecom pioneer MCI, and a father who sat on Kodak’s Board of Directors, built a successful restaurant chain, ran a private airline chartering business, and invested in real estate.
ONE OF A KIND
Growing up surrounded by that heritage of grit, vision, and dealmaking, launching a business felt like a natural way of life. At 14, David became an entrepreneur, running his own catalog mail-order business — hiring friends to distribute flyers on commission and placing ads in the local newspaper. The operation grew so quickly that he eventually needed six people just to keep up with orders.

Whether personally or professionally, David believes success starts with a vision — followed by a clear, determined plan to bring it to life.
Bringing Art to Life

Los Altos
Even as a young child, David was a visionary. Some have called him a “dreamer,” but his real gift has always been spotting opportunity and acting on it.
Growing up, David’s father once told him quietly, “One day, son, you are going to drive a very nice car.” That vote of confidence stayed with him.
In 2001, after a nationwide search, David found a Rolls-Royce Silver Spur in mint condition — its paint had never seen a drop of rain. He negotiated his way to winning it at an estate sale, beating out a couple who had flown across the country for the same car.
He spent every moment appreciating the artistic craftsmanship of its sculpted frame. The purchase meant more than owning a rare car — it honored his parents’ lifelong admiration for fine design and fulfilled a belief his father had placed in him years earlier.
When the time came to pass the car on, David was just as deliberate about choosing its next steward: a mutual connection through his network, who happens to own a town in California, ultimately purchased the vehicle.
That same care and attention shows up in David’s philanthropic work too — from supporting Habitat for Humanity to sponsoring a child in Ethiopia.
How Insight Became Advisory

Carmel-By-The-Sea
David’s career in business acquisitions began on the buyer’s side of the table in 2000. Sitting in the buyer’s chair taught him the unvarnished truth about what actually makes a business valuable, how buyers assess risk, and where deals quietly fall apart.
In 2018, a close colleague said what everyone around David already knew: “You love helping people, and you’re great at making deals happen — you should be helping owners exit their companies.” That conversation changed the direction of his career.
David searched nationally for an advisory team that mirrored his values — one built on empathy, radical integrity, and personalized care. That search led him to an elite advisory group headquartered in San Diego, with a track record of sales across 117 markets nationwide and an investor database spanning the globe — serving seller clients across the country.
Determined to Succeed

Beverly Hills
Nowhere is David’s creativity and genuine concern for others more evident than in his Main Street and Middle Market advisory practice. Nationally, only about 12% of listed small-to-mid-sized businesses actually sell. To David, that statistic is more than a number — a business represents decades of sacrifice, long hours, and a living legacy.
He focuses on selling businesses with $200,000+ in net benefit to their owners, keeping his success rate near 100% by tapping a national network of 36,000+ investors to drive maximum competition for his clients — all while protecting total confidentiality every step of the way.
From initial consultation to closing, David and his team provide clear communication and sound advice so clients can make the most of their options. Nothing is overlooked, and his clients’ best interests remain his top priority throughout.
